Preparing to leave foster care
For teens ages 16 and older beginning to plan for work, education, housing, and the responsibilities that come with adulthood.
Foster the Future helps Arizona teens and young adults ages 16–24 prepare for adulthood and navigate life after foster care. We provide practical guidance, career mentorship, and scholarship support for skills-based education and training.
Signing a lease or choosing a training program can bring up questions you have never had to answer before. Many young people can turn to family for help. Those transitioning from foster care may have fewer people to ask. Foster the Future helps fill that guidance gap. We help young people understand their options and work through what comes next, whether they are exploring a career or facing an unfamiliar responsibility.

The cost of starting a career can extend well beyond a course. A required exam or a set of tools may stand between someone and the opportunity they want to pursue. Financial support may help cover course tuition, enrollment fees, and other required costs connected to a skills-based training opportunity.
Help with required tools or equipment can make it possible to participate in training and prepare for work in a trade.
Support may cover testing fees, certification exams, or licenses a young person needs before they can enter their chosen field.
Help with workwear, safety gear, books, or training kits can address expenses that are easy to overlook when planning a career.
Practical guidance helps young people understand rental applications, manage money, and find reliable help with responsibilities they have not handled before.
Connections with experienced professionals give young people a place to ask questions, explore a career, and learn what the work involves.
